FLOOD relief operations crews have been working since the early hours of this morning (Friday) across Limerick to help stem a tide of destruction brought on in the wake of Storm Babet.
According to Limerick City and County Council (LCCC), crews have been responding to flooding incidents throughout the county since 3.30am this morning.
This comes as rain and flooding have caused destructive scenes in the south west of Ireland, with damages from flooding in Mitchelstown, County Cork, reported to currently be in the millions of euros.
The Status Yellow rain warning which was in place for Limerick this morning has now been lifted.
The Council have said that relief operations are ongoing in a number of areas.
Pallasgreen
The N24 outside of Pallasgreen is currently flooded and warning signs have been put in place.
A river has burst its banks in Old Pallas, causing minor flood damage to one residential property. LCCC crews have installed sandbags to protect the property.
Cappamore
There has been surface water-related flooding in Cappamore on lands and a garage of a property outside the town.
Croom
Caution is advised as LCCC operation crews were sent out to deal with surface water flooding on the N20 north of the Croom bypass. Caution is advised while travelling.
O’Rourke’s Cross
Surface water flooding on the northbound lane has seen warning signage erected. Flooding has also been reported on the Bruff Line at the R518.
The Council also urged caution in Bruree where road flooding has been reported, as well as on the local road from Ballyneety to Knockea.
The local authority has confirmed minor flood damage in Effin and at Ross Temple, while two properties on the R515 at Bresheen, Kilmallock, are at risk of flooding from water on the road.
