Calls for speed limits to be painted directly on Limerick roads

Fianna Fail campaigner Pat O'Neill.

FIANNA Fáil campaigner Pat O’Neill has called for the Council to look at a pilot program where speed limits are painted directly on the road.

This, he maintains, would ensure that when drivers are looking ahead they can see the speed of the road they are on.

“Sometimes it can be very difficult to notice the speed signage as it may be covered by overgrowth or may not be there at all, so this way it could help drivers reduce their speeds.”

“We have found that some areas people are unsure of the correct limit in the area and rather than looking for a speed pole they can see the speed limit on the road in front of them,” Mr O’Neil explained.
