Brass Against are angry, they’re inspired, and they’re ready for change—and they hope their music amplifies this energy in everyone who listens. They play Dolans this Saturday October 14.
Brass Against, spearheaded by Brad Hammonds, is a formidable collective of artists united by a shared mission: to create protest music fueled by brass, igniting a call to action among their fans.
This potent assemblage took shape in 2017, galvanised by the charged political climate and a yearning for politically charged music. A pivotal moment arrived when Brad joined forces with Andrew Gutauskas, the musical director and master of the baritone sax. They embarked on an electric session, immersing themselves in the rebellious anthems of Rage Against The Machine. Fueling their momentum, they rallied their friends, summoned their creative energies, and thus, the invigorating force known as Brass Against was unleashed upon the world.
Throughout their journey, Brass Against has demonstrated their creative prowess with the release of three full-length albums, each showcasing their signature brass-driven renditions of iconic tracks from the likes of Rage Against The Machine, Tool, Audioslave, and more. Vocalists such as the remarkable Sophia Urista, the dynamic Liza Colby, and the soulful Samuel Hope have lent their voices to these compelling musical ventures.
Brass Against boldly stepped into uncharted territory by debuting their original music in 2020 helmed by the powerful vocals of Sophia Urista.
Brad reflects on this pivotal moment, stating, “This EP marks our first foray into writing after doing interpretations of others’ songs for the last two years. We will continue writing and recording. The process has been the most rewarding thus far.”
Brass Against wants the music they perform to sound inspiring and resonate with people’s emotions, encouraging them to act.
They combine rock and edgy hip-hop to play music that’s powerful and empowering. Brass Against is exceptional music with a political edge.
Last few tickets at www.dolans.ie for this Saturday October 14. Followed by an After Show Party playing alternative / indie until late.
