GARDAÍ are investigating a shooting at a house in Limerick City this morning (Thursday).
A Garda spokesman said Gardaí were probing “the discharge of a firearm at a property on the Hyde Road”.
The spokesman said the shooting occurred “during the early hours of this morning”.
They said “no injuries have been reported”.
A number of shootings and a pipebomb blast have occurred in the area over recent weeks and months.
It is feared a local feud between parties involved in a dispute could lead to loss of life.
On October 5 last shots were fired at a house around 2.15am in the nearby O’Malley Park estate, in Southill.
Again no injuries were reported.
On July 15th last, a man in his 30s was injured when a pipe bomb exploded damaging two houses on Hyde Road.
Gardaí said they “attended the scene of an explosion of a viable device, at approximately 3.10am” and that “one man aged in his early 30s received injuries to his arm which were non-life threatening”.
On June 4 last, Gardaí appealed for information about an afternoon drive-by shooting on Hyde Road.
At least one shot was fired from a firearm in the vicinity of a number of people around 1.15pm.
Again “no injuries were reported”.
A Garda source confirmed a car was used in the June 4 gun attack but Gardaí would not release a description of the car.
On May 15 last, shots were discharged at a house on Hyde Road at approximately 11.30pm and again “no injuries were reported”.
Gardaí at Roxboro Road asked to speak “with any witnesses who were in the vicinity of Hyde Road, Colbert Station, Parnell Street and other surrounding areas between 11:00pm and 11:45pm on Monday the 15th of May 2023”.
