IN a praise-worthy move, the Gaelic Grounds historically hosted both the Limerick Ladies Senior and Intermediate Football Finals.
In his programme contribution, Limerick Chairman PJ Kiely said: “I would like to extend a big thank you to the County Secretary of Limerick GAA (Mike O’Riordan) for working with me in securing the TUS Gaelic Grounds for our Finals.”
In the 3Dental Senior Final, Monagea registered a merited 2-9 to 0-7 defeat of St. Ailbe’s.
Martin O’Sullivan’s side were 0-7 to 0-3 in front at half-time, and closing half goals from county pair Deborah Murphy and Catriona Davis closed-out the contest.
Monagea were under the inspired captaincy of their full-back Yvonne Lee.
Gráinne McNamara kicked three points for Ailbe’s.
In a thrilling curtain-raiser, Galtee Gaels bettered Murroe/Boher (3-6 to 2-8), helped greatly by a hat-trick from Breda Martin.
Murroe/Boher duo Nicole Bennett and Karen Cunningham both goaled in an exciting grandstand finish.
The Gaels were skippered by Shelly Walsh.
