FINE Gael is to run three candidates in the Limerick City West ward in the 2024 Local Elections.

At its City West Local Election Selection Convention, held in the South Court Hotel and chaired by Senator Martin Conway, the party named its hopefuls to take seats in the next term of Limerick City and County Council.

Running alongside former Limerick Mayor Cllr Daniel Butler, who has served as a Fine Gael councillor on Limerick City and County Council for nine years, are Cllr Daniel McSweeney, current Deputy Mayor of Limerick, and political newcomer Michael McCurtain.

Michael is currently working in Limerick Chamber as Skillnet Manager with a focus on training and development. He has a wide range of experience working across HR and recruitment, financial services, education, and retail.

His maternal grandfather, Edward (Ned) O’Sullivan, established O’Sullivan Shoes, which traded in the city for nearly 70 years, while his paternal grandfather Michael (Mick) McCurtain, was the city engineer for over 20 years.
