ARDPATRICK’S Oisín O’Callaghan claimed a breakthrough gold in the Downhill Final at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Series, leading home an Irish one-two with Rónán Dunne of Wexford taking silver.
O’Callaghan (20) produced the best performance of his fledgling career to claim victory in Snowshow, West Virginia, his first World Cup victory.
With Dunne setting the time to beat in his run, 3:08.120, O’Callaghan was always going to have to produce something special and he completed the testing track in a time of 3:07.624.
American veteran Dakotah Norton rounded out the podium places, taking bronze.
