AN ELDERLY man was killed in a fatal road collision last night (Wednesday October 4).
According to Gardaí, the accident took place on the N69 Glin to Tarbert Road in County Limerick at around 10pm yesterday evening.
One man, who Gardaí say was aged in his 70s, was killed in the accident, which “involved a car and a pedestrian”.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem is due to take place.
No other injuries have so far been reported in connection with the fatal accident, Gardaí say.
The stretch of N69 road is currently closed to traffic as a forensic examination takes place, and local diversions have been installed.
Investigating Gardaí in Newcastle West have issued an appeal to any potential witnesses of the fatal incident who may have any information (including dashcam footage) to come forward.
“Any road users who were travelling on the N69 between Glin and Tarbert yesterday evening between 9.00pm and 10.15pm, and who may have camera footage (including dashcam), is asked to make this available to Gardaí,” a statement from An Garda Síochána read.
