LIMERICK punk band The Hitchers report that they will play some shows in the UK for the first time in 25 years. The band toured regularly in the 90s before winding down in 2001 and recently released their re-mastered debut album, ‘It’s All Fun & Games Til Someone Loses An Eye’, on vinyl.
Band leader Niall Quinn, says, “We’re very excited. 25 years after our last gigs in the UK we’re going back for a short jaunt. First up we’re in Wolverhampton’s Wulfrun Hall – opening for my heroes Half Man Half Biscuit on Friday 6.
“Then on Saturday 7 we head to Leeds, where we finished a long slog of a tour way back in 1997 on a rowdy night in the late lamented Duchess. This time we’re bound for the Pack Horse, Hyde Park. There’s quite an affinity between us and the city of Leeds as what’s probably our best known song, certainly in Britain, has a starring role for the Leeds United legend Gordon Strachan.”
“Any help you can afford us in letting people know we’re heading over to play would be very gratefully appreciated.”
