PRE-TRIAL legal arguments will begin this week in the case of the man accused of the murder of Mary Immaculate graduate and primary school teacher Aisling Murphy.

The matter was opened in the Central Criminal Court today (Monday) of the trial of Josef Puska (32), with an address at Lynally Grove, Mucklagh, in County Offaly, who is charged with murdering the 23-year-old while she was out running in Tullamore, County Offaly, in January last year.

It is believed the pre-trial proceedings will take as much as two weeks. A jury will then be sworn in, with the trial expected to last around six weeks in total.

The proceedings will begin on Wednesday morning (October 4), in which Mr Puska will have a Slovakian translator.

Family members of Ms Murphy were in court for today’s short hearing.
