BUS services across Limerick continue to be suspended today (Monday October 2) on account of what Bus Éireann are calling “unofficial strike action”.
This follows disruption over the weekend, with no bus services operating on Sunday either due to the action.
In a statement to the Limerick Post, Bus Éireann said that it was “disappointed” at the action and urged workers to return to work.
“We understand that a large number of our customers in Limerick depend on our services to get around including for work, education, shopping and hospital appointments.”
“We are disappointed at this action and the impact it is having on our customers and we have urged those employees involved in this unofficial, illegal action to reconsider their actions and immediately return to work,” the statement said.
The bus operator says that the action relates to a row over spare driver working arrangements which has been adopted nationally, with this unofficial strike only taking place in Limerick.
Bus Éireann have apologised to customers for the inconvenience and said they hope that services will resume as soon as possible.
“Bus Éireann is continuing to make every effort to resolve this situation and would like to apologise to affected customers. ”
