A LANDLORD in Limerick fell victim to financial fraud in recent weeks after a tenant accessed and used his personal bank details.
According to Sergeant Bet Leetch, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street Garda Station, the landlord discovered his bank account was down “a cash amount”, realising soon after that one of his tenants had used his bank BIC and IBAN details to pay a mobile phone bill.
According to Sgt Leetch, the tenant will be prosecuted, and warns the public to “check your bank account often and in detail” for any irregularities.
