A CASTLECONNELL resident got the fright of his life earlier this month when he found a stranger had walked into his home under cover of night.

On Wednesday September 6, the resident, a man in his early 20s, heard a noise in his Castleconnell home.

Upon searching the house, he found a man had walked in through an unlocked side door.

According to Gardaí, the thief had managed to grab a pair of house and car keys from a hall table and run before the resident could react or attempt to stop him.

“The best tip is to lock your windows and doors. One in six thieves get into a home through an unlocked window or door,” said Sergeant Ber Leetch.
