A LOCAL historian will deliver a free lecture on the remarkable work of the Limerick woman who established the Convent of Mercy in Newport.
Historian John Phayer will give a talk, titled โIn the middle of every difficulty lies opportunityโ, detailing the work of Mary Anne OโBrien, who founded the Newport convent.
The talk will include information on Canon James Howard and Fr Edmond OโKane, who helped the Limerick woman in founding the convent, as well as details on the lives of the Mercy nuns who resided there.
The talk takes place from 8pm this evening (September 28) in the Muintir na Tรญre Hall in Murroe.
