GARDAÍ are on the lookout for a toasty thief in Askeaton after reports from a local man of the theft of firewood from his lands on Friday September 8.
Sergeant Ber Leetch, Crime Prevention Officer at Henry Street Garda Station said that the owner of the land had left the firewood unattended in his field for a period of time and returned to find it gone.
To avoid any others being burned by opportunistic, heat-seeking thieves, Sergeant Leetch warned landowners who are chopping firewood to secure it in a locked shed “as soon as possible”.
