THE Prima Volta crew are back from their summer break to bring their monthly slice of quality jazz, funk and hip hop to The Record Room.
This time it is a free gig in conjunction with Culture Night and Limerick Jazz Festival happening this Friday September 22. Prima Volta will host The Bonk for their debut Limerick performance.
The Bonk is a project exploring the compositions of songwriter and improviser, Phil Christie. Taking elliptical rhythms and repetitive ritualistic wordplay as a framework, the music uses improvisation to explore the fringes of traditional forms with recordings and performances ranging from solo to large ensemble efforts.
Support on the night will be from the ever reliable Prima Volta selectors Peter Curtin and Bill Baramus.
