BRUFF are through to the semi-finals of the Munster Senior Cup.
The county side followed up their narrow 23-22 win over UL Bohemian last week with a 43-19 victory at home to Midleton to claim top spot in Group Four.
Tom Quigley, Ciarán Cronin, Rob Browne, Ethan Anderson, Mark Fitzgerald, and Adam Casey were try scorers for Bruff. Sean Kilbridge converted five of the tries and also added a penalty.
In Group Two, UCC surprised defending champions Young Munster at Tom Clifford Park with 28-21 success. Donnacha O’Callaghan and Tomas Clifford were try scorers for Young Munster.
Garryowen defeated Cashel 34-5 at the Tipperary venue running in six tries.
A last minute penalty earned Clonmel a 20-17 victory at home to Old Crescent. The visitors had tries from Conor Monaghan, Sean Donnarumma and Michael O’Hanrahan, with Ronan McKenna kicking a conversion.
The Group action continues on Saturday.
On the Junior scene, Newcastle West defeated local rivals Abbeyfeale 27-10 in the Transfield Cup. Shane Airy, Dan Normoyle and Tyrese Holdbrook scored tries for the winners, who were also awarded a penalty try. Airey added a conversion and a penalty.
