A FOOT chase ensued when a man attempted to escape Gardaí after being found driving a quad bike recklessly through the streets of Limerick City.
The chase took place on Monday of this week (September 4) when Gardaí, operating out of Henry Street Garda Station, attempted to apprehend the driver of a Yamaha Banshee quad bike after he was spotted driving dangerously through the city.
When stopped by Gardaí, the man, who is believed to have already been disqualified from driving before the incident, attempted to escape on foot.
Tensions on the streets of Limerick City have been rising in recent months as increasing reports of reckless driving have been made involving the likes of scrambler bikes, with many young drivers wearing masks and balaclavas and causing stress and worry to pedestrians and residents.
Vehicles like the all-terrain quad bike seized after the foot chase on Monday are known to be able to reach top speeds of around 120km/h.
According to a statement posted by An Garda Síochána online, the driver of the quad bike has been charged with dangerous driving and is due to appear in court later this month.
