Injury blows for Munster ahead of new season

Munster fans.

MUNSTER pair Mike Haley and Roman Salanoa have both been ruled out until the New Year due to injury.

Full-back Haley has undergone hip surgery, while prop-forward Salanoa continues to recover from a knee operation.

Recent Academy graduate Cian Hurley is another troubled by injury (achilles/ankle) and will not be available for selection until early 2024.

Antoine Frisch and Joey Carbery are back training following low-grade injuries and will be available for selection for the pre-season game against Connacht in two weeks’ time.

Andrew Conway and Jack Daly have also both returned after long-term knee injuries.

Seán O’Brien is currently rehabbing a thigh injury and is expected to be fit for the opening rounds of the URC.

Liam Coombes (thigh), Jack O’Sullivan (knee), and Patrick Campbell (ankle) are all undergoing rehab and will miss the opening rounds of the URC campaign.

Paddy Patterson is progressing well with his rehab from a knee injury and is expected to return to team training in November.

Munster entertain Leinster in a pre-season friendly at Musgrave Park on Friday, 6pm.  The fixture will be live-streamed, and the Munster XV for same will be announced well in advance.

On the international front, UL Bohemian’s Dave Kilcoyne has been ruled out of Ireland’s World Cup opening game against Romania in Bordeaux this Saturday.
