JUST 15 out of a total 225 vacant properties owned by Limerick City and County Council are ready to accept tenants.
That’s according to information provided by the Council to Limerick senator Paul Gavan.
Senator Gavan claims the figures represent “a monumental failure to take action to ensure people have somewhere to live.”
“We are in the middle of the worst housing crisis in the history of the state, yet we have over 200 properties owned by our Council that are literally lying vacant whilst desperate families and young children are stuck in emergency accommodation across the city and county,” he said.
According to a communication to Senator Gavan by the Council, “the remainder of the units are at various stages of construction/renovation.”
