Woman charged in connection with crash on N21 outside County Limerick town

A WOMAN in her 40s has been charged in relation to a road crash that left two other women with serious injuries on the N21 in Adare last week.

The crash, which happened at around 3.45pm on Friday (August 18) and is said to have taken place close to the entrance of the Adare Manor Golf Club, involved a car and an articulated lorry.

Four women, who were travelling in the car, were taken to hospital for treatment. Two of the women, aged in their 60s, are being treated for serious injuries. The other two women, aged 40s and 60s, were also treated for what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí confirmed on Saturday that a woman in her 40s had been arrested. She was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in the Limerick Region.

In a statement, An Garda Síochána confirmed that the woman has since been charged and appeared before Limerick District Court on Saturday.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N21 or in Adare on Friday afternoon between 3:30pm and 4:15pm is asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
