THE BON Secours Health System is set to invest in an electronic health records system that will create 60 new jobs across Ireland, including in Limerick.
BonsConnect is being developed in partnership with Meditech, a Boston based medical technology company at a cost of €25million.
When the new system is up and running, it will mean that electronic healthcare records (EHR) can be accessed from any of the five hospitals within the Bon Secours Health System.
The new system will create 30 new jobs now, and a further 30 in September, with the system to be fully operational by the summer of 2025.
A spokesperson for the Bon Secours Hospital Group said that where the roles will be based will depend on the candidate.
“The new BonsConnect roles will be spread across the BSHS network depending on the location of the candidate and flexible in nature,” the spokesperson said.
The BonsConnect system is part of a wider €300million nationwide investment by the hospital group as part of its 2025 strategic plan.
Bon Secours Health System Group Chief Executive, Bill Maher, said: “Bon Secours Health System continues to be unrivalled in the quality of our service, combining the latest medical technologies and approaches with compassionate and personalised medical care.”
“BonsConnect is the next step in our digital journey and will change how care is delivered at our five hospitals, including our new hospital in Limerick, due to open in 2025.”
“This will lead to improved clinical decision-making, more efficient and accurate clinical documentation, and an increased level of access to the right information by the right person at the right time,” he said.
Helen Waters, Executive Vice President, and Chief Operating Officer, Meditech, said: “We are excited that Bon Secours Health System has selected Meditech Expanse as the EHR to lead its digital transformation journey, and we look forward to supporting them in their mission to improve the health and well-being of their communities.”
