Limerick hurling stars line-out for charity

RACING legends Jim Bolger and Davy Russell have announced their star-studded teams for next Monday’s Hurling for Cancer Research Exhibition Fundraiser at Dr. Cullen Park, Carlow (throw-in, 6pm).

Bolger’s starting selection (manager: Liam Griffin, Wexford) includes All-Ireland winning captain Cian Lynch of Patrickswell, Ahane brothers Dan and Tom Morrissey and Kyle Hayes (Kildimo/Pallaskenry). The side, which also features Conor Fogarty (Kilkenny), Noel McGrath (Tipperary) and Dessie Hutchison (Waterford), will be skippered by Cats ace TJ Reid.

Russell’s team (manager: Brian Cody, Kilkenny) includes Clare pair Tony Kelly and Peter Duggan, Conor Whelan (Galway), Lee Chin (Wexford), Patrick Horgan (Cork) and Con O’Callaghan of Dublin.

A who’s who of GAA, racing, sports and TV stars such as David and Paudie Clifford, Rachael Blackmore, Ursula Jacob, Paul McGrath, Miriam O’Callaghan, Michael Duignan, Kevin Manning, Willie McCreery, Barry Geraghty, Marty Morrissey and Joanne O’Riordan are among those set to lend a hand as selectors, commentators, side-line officials, umpires and water carriers.

Gates open at 4:30pm with pre-match entertainment and refreshments before throw-in at 6pm.
