TRIBUTES have begun to pour in as the young Limerick girl with a “heart of gold” who lost her life in a tragic road accident on Wednesday night (August 16) was named locally.
Savannah Calvert (14), of Garryowen, died tragically following a road accident late on Wednesday night which took place in the Bank Place area of Limerick City.
According to Gardaí, 14-year-old Savannah, a pedestrian in the single-car incident, was taken to University Hospital Limerick after suffering serious injuries. She passed away at the Dooradoyle hospital shortly afterwards.
Mourners described the young Garryowen teen as the “nicest little girl” with a “heart of gold” who was “always too good for this Earth”.
“God why did you have to take the most harmless child that would do anything for anyone,” another wrote online.
Ms Calvert’s passing is deeply regretted by her siblings Diane, Deborah, Linda, Stacey, Chloe, Joelene, Denika, Dermot, Lee, Richard, Ross, and Kieran, her grandparents, aunt and uncles, nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of family and friends.
She is predeceased by her mother Jacqueline Barry, and sisters Sophie and Katie Calvert.
No other injuries from the incident have so far been reported.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, including those who may have dash-cam footage, to come forward.
