In the wake of debates over limiting night-time flights out of Dublin Airport, Limerick senator Paul Gavan has called for greater focus to be put on Shannon Airport.
Demanding a “fundamental re-balancing of aviation policy”, Senator Gavan said: “Every day I see people leaving Limerick by bus to travel to an overcrowded Dublin Airport to catch a flight.”
“What is needed is a change of policy to focus on directing more flights to and from Shannon,” Senator Gavan said.
“The current controversy over the number of flights leaving Dublin should be the moment when the Government finally embrace the idea of a much better balance between the east and west coast flight departures.”
