FOUL play has been ruled out in the death of a woman who was found dead at a home in Newcastle West on Monday evening.

The body of Catherine โ€˜Caโ€™ McCarthy Atkinson, of Newcastle West, was discovered in a home in the Templegreen area by Gardaรญ at around 5.10pm on Monday evening, sparking an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

However, following a post-mortem today (Tuesday August 15) Gardaรญ are satisfied that there was no involvement of another party in the tragedy.

While the Garda investigation into the womanโ€™s death will continue, the findings will now be for a coronerโ€™s inquest, rather than any criminal inquiry.
