AHEAD of a three week break, Kilmallock are the only side with maximum points in the Bon Secours Hospital Limerick Senior Hurling Championship.
The Balbec, 12-time winners, followed-up on their runaway opening round defeat of Doon with a comfortable 1-19 to 1-12 win over Ahane at the weekend.
A second-half goal from veteran Gavin O’Mahony proved the key to unlocking the challenge of their stubborn opponents.
Kilmallock are captained by Phelim O’Reilly.
Elsewhere in Group One (from which four teams qualify), holders Na Piarsaigh – back under the management of Shane O’Neill collected their first brace of points with success over Kildimo/Pallaskenry and Doon recovered from the horrors of their opening show to surprise Patrickswell.
In Group Two (from which only two teams emerge), pacesetters Mungret St. Paul’s and Ballybrown drew with Garryspillane and Adare, respectively, and Monaleen easily accounted for South Liberties.
The championship resumes on the weekend ending September 3.
