AN INVESTIGATION was launched this evening by Gardaí after the body of a middle-aged woman was discovered in a West Limerick town.
Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death after her body was discovered in Newcastle West earlier today (Monday August 14). The woman, described as being in her early 50s, was found dead in a home in the Templegreen area of Newcastle West at around 5.10pm.
According to a statement from An Garda Síochána, the woman’s body remains at the scene, preserved for a technical examination.
Gardaí say the office of the State Pathologist, Dr Linda Mulligan, has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged imminently.
The results of the State Pathologist’s examination, according to Gardaí, will determine which course the investigation will take.
It is believed that no arrests have so far been made in relation to the woman’s death.
