THE obvious highlight for Róisín Ní Ríain of Drombanna at the Para Swimming World Championships in Manchester was her gold medal in the 100m backstroke, an event she won in a Personal Best of a little over a minute.
“I really don’t know what to say to be honest, I’m absolutely delighted with that swim. Very unexpected but it’s a lovely surprise,” said the modest teenager.
She also won silver (100m Butterfly) and a couple of bronze medals at the Championships.
Ní Ríain has now qualified for Team Ireland at Paris 2024.
