Limerick sees decrease in Garda numbers

THE NUMBER of Gardaรญ working in stations across County Limerick has decreased by two per cent since December 2022.

Thatโ€™s according to figures published in the Irish Independent, which show an overall decrease in stationed Gardaรญ nationwide across the past six months.

Limerick stands just below the average national decrease of 2.2 per cent, going from 594 stationed Gardaรญ in December 2022 to 582 in June 2023.

The largest drop was reported in County Louth (3.7 per cent) while the lowest was seen in County Meath (0.6 per cent).

Neighbouring Clare and Galway saw a 1.6 and 1.3 decrease in stationed Gardaรญ respectively.

Tipperary saw a 3.1 per cent decrease in the same period.
