NOT ONE of the 50 properties nationwide available under the discretionary rate of the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) in June was available within Limerick City or its suburbs.
That’s according to the ‘Locked Out of the Market’ report for June by homeless charity the Simon Community.
The snapshot study, undertaken quarterly, found that only 50 properties were available nationwide across the month of June within HAP limits out of a total of 934 available-to-rent units.
Of the 16 areas surveyed by the Simon Community as part of the housing report, nine were found to have no HAP properties available to rent whatsoever.
The areas included Limerick city centre and suburbs, Cork city centre, Galway city centre, Portlaoise, Sligo town, Athlone, and County Leitrim.
