NEW FIGURES have shown the number of burglaries in Limerick fell by 15 per cent between April 2022 and March 2023.
The figures, released by PhoneWatch.ie, show that 410 burglaries were reported during the period, down on the same period the previous year.
Eoin Dunne, Managing Director of PhoneWatch, said: “It is reassuring to see that Irish homeowners are maintaining a high level of vigilance when it comes to home security and the risks associated with an invasive home intrusion.”
Research carried out by PhoneWatch also found that 56 per cent of people are more conscious of the risk of burglaries compared to 12 months ago.
Ireland has one of the highest rates of monitored alarms in Europe, the research found, with almost 20 per cent of Irish households having one.
PhoneWatch reminded people to take steps to secure their home against burglary, such as removing spare keys from easily found places.
