Drinks all round in Rock Bar following syndicate win at Galway

Last Ammo and Jack Kearney won for owners Rock Bar Syndicate and trainer Richard O'Brien (Healy Racing).

THERE wasnโ€™t an empty glass in Granaghโ€™s Rock Bar on Day Three of the Galway Racing Festival after some of its customers tasted a stunning syndicate success at Ballybrit.

Their 40/1 chance โ€˜Last Ammoโ€™ – trained in Ballingarry by friend Richard Oโ€™Brien – won a competitive Follow @thetotecom Today Handicap.

Oโ€™Brien told irishracing.com: โ€œIt’s terrific. Itโ€™s great for the lads (Rock Bar Syndicate) who are great local supporters of mine.”

โ€œThis is massive and it’s huge for all of us to be honest. I’m very grateful for the support.”

โ€œWe felt we should come to Galway as thatโ€™s what a syndicate horse is all about and there was an element of a social runner with him.”

โ€œI got it completely wrong with this fella as I thought he wanted very fast ground. I didn’t expect him to handle the ground but obviously I’m wrong and he probably wants a bit of juice in it.โ€

The winner was given a smashing ride by Jack Kearney.

โ€œIt’s a much-improved performance and Jackโ€™s 7lb is huge. He gave him a beautiful ride all the way, never got checked at any stage,โ€ Oโ€™Brien said.

โ€œWe have great luck together, Jack and myself.โ€

Last Ammo was a bargain purchase (ยฃ10,000) from the yard of Charlie Abbleby across the water in Newmarket last Autumn.
