Gardaí investigating assault in Limerick City on All-Ireland night

GARDAÍ in Limerick are investigating an assault that took place in the City Centre in the early hours of Monday morning, in which a number of men were involved in a violent incident involving what appears to be a golf club.

One man was conveyed to University Hospital Limerick following the incident, suffering from non-life threatening injuries, according to Gardaí.

The fight broke out on a busy street as Limerick hurling fans were celebrating the historic fourth-in-a-row All-Ireland win.

In a video circulating across social media, a number of men were seen to be involved in a fight on Denmark Street in Limerick City, with two of the men wielding what appears to be a golf club at different points in the online footage.

A statement from An Garda Síochána issued to the Limerick Post confirmed that Gardaí in Limerick are currently investigating the late-night incident.

“Gardaí are investigating an assault that occurred on the 24th of July 2023 at 12.26am on Denmark Street, Limerick City.”

“A man in his 30s was taken to University Hospital Limerick for non-life threatening injuries.”

The spokesman goes on to say that while no arrests have yet been made, investigations are ongoing.
