LIMERICK councillors were told that the Westfield Management Plan is now in the final stage of drafting.
At last Monday’s Metropolitan District meeting, Green Party councillor Saša Novak Uí Chonchúir asked about the operational plan to manage and maintain its natural environment, such as management of reeds, trees, as well as social amenities, such as the paths and the viewing platform.
Director of Services Vincent Murray said the plan will address overall management of the Westfield’s Wetlands with particular emphasis on the preservation and enhancement of an important habitat and ecosystem.
“It will outline recommended maintenance, amenity enhancement, and the addition or removal of additional features. In addition the plan will outline options in various categories, such as the bulrush removal.”
