The Liam McCarthy Cup, located on a Limerick City street.

AS THE lead up to the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final between Limerick and Kilkenny hots up, a Galway company have given Limerick people a chance to get their hands on the Liam McCarthy Cup, hidden in a secret location in the city.

RealSim, a company that specialises in producing Digital Twins (a virtual copy of a real-world environment) has changed their 3D model of Limerick City into an interactive online game that allows people to find the Liam McCarthy Cup and score a point for their county.

The cup is randomly placed on a street in the Treaty City and players have to find it judging only by the distance displayed on screen.

The Liam McCarthy Cup will always reappear in a new location in the city, no matter how many times a player finds it, so there’s lots of fun to be had.
