A CELEBRATION befitting John Kiely’s four-in-a-row heroes has been announced for tomorrow evening (Monday July 24) in Limerick City.

Limerick’s All-Ireland Senior Hurling Champions will be greeted by thousands of supporters when they take to the stage at Pery Square tomorrow following their historic victory over Derek Lyng’s Kilkenny in a tooth and nail encounter at Croke Park this afternoon.

It will be a night to remember with a host of live music acts lined up to get the street party started on Monday night.

Hometown Lim-rockers Anna’s Anchor, young talent Michael Maloney, and DJ Jen Payne will be warming up the crowd from 6pm.

Limerick GAA, in partnership with Limerick City and County Council, are inviting supporters to join the family-friendly party and welcome the triumphant Limerick team home for a fourth time on the trot.

The homecoming event is an e-ticket-only event, with tickets currently available from Eventmaster.ie. Gates will open at 5pm with proceedings kicking off from 6pm.

Tickets cost €2, including all fees, with the nominal charge, according to the Council, being “for the purposes of managing and preparing for the number of supporters that will attend”.

“Fans are asked to be patient as they log on to get their tickets, which are available on a first come first served basis and can be downloaded onto phones. There is limited capacity so in the interests of fairness and allowing as many supporters as possible to get tickets, they will be limited to six tickets per transaction,” a statement from the Council read.

Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, Cllr Gerald Mitchell said: “I’ve heard it said that you haven’t won an All Ireland until you beat Kilkenny in the final. Now we have back to back wins over the Cats.”

“This was a stunning victory by an amazing team of young men. John Kiely, the players, and all the backroom staff are mighty heroes who have given an almighty lift to us all here in Limerick again this year. Achieving four championship wins in a row is an incredible achievement.

“As Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, I am looking forward to welcoming them and the Liam McCarthy Cup back to Limerick once again in front of thousands of supporters at Pery Square. It’s time to party, Luimneach Abú!”

Seamus McNamara, Chairperson of the Limerick GAA County Board, added: “We are beyond delighted to have equalled the record of four championship wins in a row. It is a mark of the character, strength, and dedication of this side led by John Kiely.”

“The competition throughout the championship this year was fierce and that makes this victory even more satisfying. We are truly living in a golden age of hurling in Limerick.

“I want to thank the supporters who travelled by trains, planes, buses, and cars to create a sea of green at Croke Park today. It gave a huge lift to the players. And it was great to see so many enjoying the match at the big screen watch party in Pery Square in Limerick city as well.

“Safe travels back to Limerick tonight and we’ll see you all at the homecoming party in Pery Square tomorrow.”

Limerick’s own Liam Ahern will MC the homecoming street party in Pery Square.

As the event is a family-friendly affair, alcohol consumption will not be permitted and there will be bag searches on entry, the Council confirmed.

A number of road closures will be in effect in the area of Barrington Street, Pery Square, and Pery Street, with full details of closures available on Limerick.ie.
