AN UPDATE was asked for at this month’s Cappamore/Kilmallock area meeting on the Market House in Kilfinane.
Sinn Féin councillor PJ Carey also wanted to know if Limerick City and County Council have ownership and what repair works or plans lay in store for the building.
Head of Property Management, Jayne Leahy, confirmed that the Market House is in Council ownership.
“The Property Management Section now intend to procure a Conservation Structural Engineer to assess the building’s structure and a plan will be drafted which will include actions to prevent further deterioration of the stonework and integrity of the building,” she said.
