Teen killed in two car collision on Tipperary-Limerick border

GARDAÍ attended the scene of a two car collision which took the life of a 19-year-old on the Tipperary-Limerick border late yesterday evening.

The crash occurred on the N24 in Ballykisteen, County Tipperary, shortly before 9pm yesterday evening (Saturday July 15).

A statement from An Garda Síochána said that a 19-year-old male passenger in one of the cars was fatally injured during the crash, and his body was taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford pending a post-mortem.

The male driver and another man in the same vehicle were taken to University Hospital Limerick, according to the Garda statement, where the passenger remains in a “serious condition”.

“The two occupants of the second vehicle were also taken to University Hospital Limerick with serious but non-life threatening injuries,” the statement continued.

The N24 in Ballykisteen was closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with traffic diversions put in place.

Following the collision, Gardaí in Tipperary are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have footage (including dashcam footage), to come forward.
