THE HOUSING Directorate of Limerick City and County Council are currently dealing with 231 open notices to quit.
This was the response to a question from Labour Party councillor Conor Sheehan at a recent Metropolitan District meeting.
Cllr Sheehan had asked how many Tenant in Situ applications are currently open and how many have been processed since April 1 of this year.
The City North representative was informed that as of June 14 last, 43 homes were at sale agreed, 54 sales were still under negotiation, a further 120 were at proposal stage, and 14 households were referred for consideration under the Cost Rental Tenant in Situ Scheme.
The Cost Rental Tenant in Situ Scheme allow’s the Government’s Housing Agency to buy rental properties from private landlords who are selling, so the Housing Agency can continue to rent these properties to the tenants who are living there.
Tenants who have received a notice of termination can apply to the scheme which aims to stop people becoming homeless.
