THE LIFE-changing work of the Mid West Simon Community is being celebrated at its Annual Ball, which will take place on Friday September 29 in Limerick’s Strand Hotel.

The ball is a major fundraiser for the charity, which relies heavily on such support to enable it to help the individuals and families who turn to them and to improve and add to the existing services that we provide in the Mid-West region.

Mid West Simon Community is working on two redevelopment projects in Limerick City which will provide permanent housing for 12 elderly homeless clients.

They have purchased two new vehicles to enhance services, introduced a new horticulture programme, and constructed polytunnels in two of their emergency accommodation facilities, and are in the process of acquiring nine new properties which will become permanent housing.

They have also further advanced plans to open Ireland’s first social grocery, by the end of the year.

A spokeswoman for Mis West Simon said: “All proceeds from the Annual Ball stay local and go directly into the charity’s services. Companies big and small, local and multinational, across the region have made our Annual Ball what it is today. They have helped make sure that we can keep our doors open for everyone who turns to us for help.”

“The event promises a night of glitz and glamour, great raffle prizes and amazing food guaranteed. It also helps to keep a light at the end of the tunnel burning strong, providing hope for those who need it most.”
