Final of 146th South of Ireland Open to take place this weekend

-

ACTION is well underway at the 146th South of Ireland Open at Limerick Lawn Tennis Club, with the finals scheduled for the Ennis Road venue on Saturday (June 24).

Introduced in 1877, the South is unique in that – unlike Wimbledon – it has staged both a men’s and women’s Championship continuously since the very outset.

The ladies event in London was only introduced in 1882.

Amongst the winners of the South of Ireland Open was future Wimbledon participant Conor Niland, who won the championship on his home court back in 2003.
