IN HIS own words, Limerick captain Declan Hannon aims to be recovered from injury for the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final on July 23.
He has been ruled-out for the upcoming semi-final at Croke Park on Saturday week against the winners of this weekend’s encounter between Galway and Tipperary at the Gaelic Grounds.
Speaking at the launch of the Poc Tapa Challenge on his thoughts about being match-ready for the All-Ireland, Hannon said: “Ah sure, you’d always be hopeful.”
“I got a bit of a nick on my knee, so it just depends on how it recovers now in the next few weeks.
“I’m just taking it day-by-day now, trying to get the rehab going and trying to get back on the pitch as soon as possible. It will just take a bit of time.
“I suppose the semi-final will just come a bit too soon. But it’s the semi where all our focus is very much on at the moment, nothing only that semi-final.
“I’ll just do whatever I can to support the boys over the next few weeks. Try and have a bit of fun with them as well and knock out the tension that might be there at times.”
During his long championship spell under manager John Kiely, Hannon has only previously missed just one fixture.
