A DOUBLE award-winning social enterprise has launched free summer camps for children in Limerick living with lifelong health conditions.
Irish charity Helium Arts, who was recently announced for not one but two major funding awards, is bringing their art camps to Limerick this July.
Helium Arts have been awarded €58,000 from the RTÉ Toy Show Appeal, along with 147 other lucky Irish charities.
This grant administered by the Community Foundation Ireland was made possible by the generosity of viewers of last November’s Late Late Toy Show.
Helium Arts was also announced as an awardee of the Social Entrepreneurs Ireland 2023 Changing Ireland Accelerator programme. This is a nine-month accelerator programme for social entrepreneurs and is worth €60,000 as well as a range of other supports like mentoring and business advice.
The summer camps are specially designed for children and young people (age 8-15) living with a lifelong physical health condition. All camps are supported by professional artists, volunteers and on-site medical care.
Activities at the camps include drawing, painting, puppetry, sculpture, film-making, animation, clay modelling and more.
Summer camps take place in the Limerick City Gallery of Art for teenagers aged between 13 and 15 from July 11 to 13. Southside Child and Family Centre will also host a summer camp for ages 8 to 12 from July 18 to 20.
An online camp will also take place for teenagers aged from 13 to 15 from July 4 to 6. Email [email protected] to request a booking form
