THE PATRICKSWELL Community Resource Centre, which commenced construction last August, has moved at pace in recent weeks.
The delivery of this much-needed facility for the community of Patrickswell will see in the region of €1.5 million invested in the project.
Significant grant funding has been secured from a number of sources including €250,000 from the JP McManus Foundation, €500,000 from the Government, €430,000 from Limerick City and County Council, and the remainder of the funding from the local community.
It is anticipated that, once opened, the centre will become the focal point for all community events in Patrickswell for decades to come.
In November 2022, Patrickswell Community Council re-launched their Buy a Brick fundraiser, which has given everyone within the community the opportunity to “engrave their name in history”.
To date, Patrickswell Community Council have received a phenomenal response from many within the community and also the many businesses with ties to Patrickswell.
The Community Council have confirmed that once works continue to go to plan, it is anticipated that the doors of the facility will open towards the end of September 2023.
Commenting on the progress of the project, chairperson of Patrickswell Community Council, Michael McSweeney, said: “In recent weeks we have seen the removal of the front boundary wall which has allowed all to see the works that have been completed on site.”
“We as an organisation have received nothing but positivity that we now have an end date in sight. Once these works are complete it will allow the committee to focus on the next phase of our community led project.
“This positivity is reflected on the support we have already received from the community with our Buy a Brick campaign and I would encourage all families to get involved with this fundraiser.”
