TADHG Beirne’s five-pointer for Munster away to Toulouse back in January has been named as the Champions Cup’s Try of the Season for 2022/23.
It was a brilliant team move involving Craig Casey, Malakai Fekitoa, Gavin Coombes, Shane Daly, Jean Kleyn, Joey Carbery, John Hodnett, Calvin Nash, and Beirne.
Beirne’s effort received over 60 per cent of the total vote, with ITV presenter Hugh Woozencroft full of praise for the impressive try.
“This try incorporated so many thrilling aspects; power, skill, jeopardy. And it was scored away from home against high-class opposition in the shape of Stade Toulousain,” Woozencroft said. “A true team try of real quality.”
The score by the 31-year-old lock gave Munster a 13-11 advantage, but Toulouse came back to win the game 20-16.
