PLANNING permission has been granted for an 86-property development in the Old Cratloe Road area of Limerick.

Riverpoint Construction were successful in applying for permission for the 86-unit development at Clonconane, between the Old Cratloe Road and Pass (Meelick Road).

The development will consist of 12 two-bed end of terrace houses, 12 two-bed mid-terrace units, eight single-storey two-bed end of terrace houses, as well as 14 single-storey two-bed mid-terrace units.

As well as this, the site will also have three two-storey apartment blocks with a total of 40 units.

These apartment buildings will consist of 10 one-bed apartments at ground floor level, 10 two-bed apartments, also on the ground floor, with a further 10 one-beds on the first floor, and another 10 two-beds on the same level.

Vehicle and pedestrian access will link to the roundabout that’s currently under construction on Pass Road. Roadways, footpaths, green spaces, landscaping, boundary treatments, and bin storage areas, together with all associated drainage connection works and all ancillary site works, will make up the remainder of the proposed development.

Limerick City and County Council have this week granted Riverpoint Construction permission to build the development, despite objections from locals.

Concerns were raised about the type of housing that would be developed on the site, with some saying that one and two-bed properties are “alien” to the area.
