Limerick motorists to face higher toll charges

The Limerick Tunnel.

MOTORISTS in Limerick will see the cost of using a busy Limerick road rise next month.

The toll on the N18 Limerick Tunnel will rise in July after a six-month Government deferral on toll increases.

Motorists will face an increase of 10c for cars, bringing the total to €2.10.

Larger vehicles using the toll road will see increases of between 30c and 50c per journey.

The increases were announced by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) in November, but were put on hold for six months due to complaints that the increases were coming in the middle of the energy crisis.

The TII confirmed this week that the increased are slated to be introduced next month, adding that there had been no increases in the prices charged on toll roads in the past 10 years.

Tolls on the M1, M7, M8, N6, and N25 Waterford Bypass will rise by 10c for cars and between 30c and 50c for larger vehicles.

Motorists on the M3 will pay 10c more for cars, buses and light goods vehicles, while other vehicles will pay between 20c or 30c more.

Prices on the M4 will rise by 20c for cars and between 40c to 60c for other categories.
