LOCAL people have until Wednesday to take part in the public consultation process on the proposed Wickham Street to Clare Street Active Travel Scheme in Limerick City centre.
Over the past month, members of the public have been given the opportunity to view and comment on the proposed designs, following a consultation event in April.
It is proposed to connect the Colbert Station Quarter to the Park Canal and the University of Limerick via a pedestrian and cycle facility. This will then facilitate additional Active Travel connections to the National Technology Park in Plassey and on to Annacotty, Castleconnell and Scariff.
Active Travel team senior engineer Sean McGlynn said that they were happy with the level of public engagement they’ve had over the past month in respect of the proposals.
“Stakeholder input from all levels, whether it be local residents, public representatives or business proprietors, is very important – not just in the context of this scheme, but in relation to the expansion of the city’s Active Travel network.
“I’d encourage those who haven’t yet put their views forward to do so before the ending of the current phase of non-statutory public consultation,” Mr McGlynn added.
The project is being delivered by Limerick City and County Council’s Active Travel team and is funded by the National Transport Authority.
