Memorial race recalls popular Limerick cyclist

The late PJ O'Riordan.

A CYCLE race in memory of the late PJ O’Riordan will take place on Sunday next (May 14) in Athea, County Limerick, with some of the country’s top cyclists expected to take part.

The late PJ O’Riordan was an active member of Newcastle West Cycling Club and raced competitively in the club colours before passing away in 2020 due to cancer.

The cycle will begin at noon and run a 27-kilometre circuit towards Carrigkerry before looping back to Athea via Knockdown.

The perpetual cup and trophy for the road race were sponsored by Mr O’Riordan’s wife Deirdre and family, who remain very involved in Limerick cycling.

Registration for the race is on Eventmaster.ie
